Thousands of farm animals & livestock are going unattended.

I feel a great deal more for those animals than for the farmers who voted for this shit.

(IIRC they had a special dedicated machine for making... I dunno if it was flat whites or something else, but I called it the white flattener because it looked ridiculous - maybe you know what the deal with that thing was!)

Couldn't say precisely why, but having been to Australia, can confirm that a flat white from tiny hotel cafe or anywhere else there is better than anything Starbucks in the US makes in terms of being about the coffee. (Loves me a white mocha or cake pop, but those are not at all about the coffee)

I'm sorry but the largest protest of my lifetime is not the 7th or 8th biggest news story in the country behind "what does Gen Z want from Instagram?" This shit is humiliating. Rearrange your layout to meet this moment. Omitting the thing happening in every American city is malpractice.

As we doom scroll our way through each day now, I wonder about the person whose job it will be to curate social media for history students a hundred years from now the way it was someone's job to curate letters and diary entries and such for the textbook I had to read in High School History class.

With apologies to those journalists and others at the Times still trying to provide unbiased coverage, I just can't support this sort of coverage with my dollars anymore.

I'm not a journalism expert, but as a consumer of journalism I feel that Kai and team are maintaining an excellent balance. Marketplace stays factual and in its lane (including highlighting the administration's lies about tariffs), and if you want opinions, there's a podcast and Bluesky for that.

It annoys me too. The thing I continually remind myself is that people are hurting and angry, so expecting them to react with that sort of grace is a tall order right now. And most people who are quietly nodding and saying "Well done, Senator" probably don't want to say something on social media.

I am absolutely a statistic of this. Part of why I upgraded from a 13 to a 16, in addition to the usual evolution of camera guts, was on the promise of Apple Intelligence. Namely I am tired of the abandonware version of Siri, and figured, "They couldn't possibly make it *worse*."

It's worse.

Any decent human being should be willing to make the financial or volume of meat consumption sacrifice to stop the literal torture of animals. It's that simple.
