I'd love a Criterion box with Linklater's Waking Life, Scanner Darkly, and Apollo 10 1/2.

Because of the boundless truth in all his pictures and the staunch naturalism of his most famous ones, Linklater doesn't get enough credit for how boundary pushing, adventurous, and original he is.

Marvin The Martian is too cute and likeable a straight man to be a great Bugs foil. It makes sense they pivoted to putting him opposite Daffy Duck Dodgers.

But these few pairings are still great. With a Buck Rogers namedrop, no less.

I speak French, so I actually prefer it this way, but something really needs to be done about this common streaming problem.

Bugs is back with three more shorts starting at 10:30 pm EST (plus we can then rewatch the trio we just saw on TCM West!)

When I was a kid in the 80s, I had no idea these cartoons were 30+ years old. But I knew they were *so* much better than everything else, even if I couldn't explain why? They are tactile and indelible and musical and hilarious and heartbreakingly short and so important to me.

I love a movie that acknowledges a structural weakness. In Groundhog Day, Rita doesn't get to be a proper character with an arc because the format requires she be unchanging. Her introduction forecasts (pun intended) that given how this camera works, this doesn't get to be a whole person.

Welles's Othello to wrap up the night, and month.

I wrestle with this. For one, it's my least favourite Shakespeare play that I know at least somewhat well. Also, the production issues are evident in the final film.

And yet, there's a lot of shocking and inventive imagery here.
