They worry so about the effect on children of seeing words like equity, equality, inclusive and exclusive...but far more about rich white dipshits being blamed than rich white dipshits abusing children. I found that...a peculiar twist of mind.

Since this app doesn't give me a list of my own recent posts in reply, I confess I don't remember what I asked, or why. I'm sorry my questions cast doubt on your real positions, and will be more careful in future. I don't know what a "skeet" is in this context, though. (Profile? That post?)

There is nothing like it! Gentle warning: protect your brain. if you do any risky things, don't keep doing them too long. Concussions really are cumulative and you can ruin future fun with nothing more complicated than a bike or horse injury. Helmets. And over 70, no "I still bounce."

Then you ride it again, reading the completed ms, and feel the climb, the fall, the turns, the twists, the other climbs and that terrifying final grand-slam all out to the finish and OMG it WORKS. Your internal ride designer smirks and starts another one out of your sight.

and free-falling the big swoop at the start? Intoxicating, isn't it? OMG, IS there a bottom? YIKES, sideways and half-over above an abyss!!! What am I DOING??? Heading toward a cliff or a huge building flat out...and then sliding to a stop. And it's over...

As a kid, I liked little roller-coasters. Then at Hemisfair, I not only rode a big one for the first time, I was put in the *front car* alone....and I have not been on a roller coaster since and have no plan to do it. OTOH, I've been a writer for decades now, and that moment of climbing up....

I'm terrified of riding roller coasters, so naturally, I've strapped myself into the rickety wooden cart of being a writer through free falls and climbs of "what the hell am I even doing?" and "hey, neat, this is pretty alright I think."

The Army Was Built to Protect the Republic β Now Itβs Being Deployed to Subdue It
The battlefield is no longer overseas. Itβs your city. Your rights. Your voice. And the military is no longer standing guard: itβs standing in the wayβ¦
The military is no longer on the sidelines...
Not a protector of freedom, but a tool of control, just like in OrbΓ‘nβs Hungary or Putinβs Russia.
We are not at war with ourselves, at least yet. But our democracy is under siege.
And the troops have already landed.

The space, the time, the trained staff, etc. But they don't, and they won't, in the foreseeable future. Vouchers to allow parents to choose bad, bigoted, schools that do not actually teach what kids will need are just a theft from taxpayers. When I was a kid, parents paid for alternative schools.

Kid is now a 40-something man, able to communicate effectively with others in limited ways. Can learn from books or online sources, shop for himself, manage his money, etc. We both worked hard to get to that point. Ideally, all schools would have the resources to do the daily work I did with him.

due to lack of available resources for this and similar ISDs. I was quite willing; I'd been doing his therapies already. But some support for families with kids who need such things would be a huge help for most. We could afford only once-a month visits to his augmented communications therapist.

from a language therapist traveling from town to town. No other language support was available within the schools. M--, severely delayed across the board and barely verbal, needed *daily* speech AND language therapy, physical therapy, and so on. The co-op coordinator suggested I home-school him

Agreed. Where school vouchers MIGHT be reasonably employed is for special needs students to access therapies not available to a school system. When our son was little, our ISD was part of a "rural spec ed co-op" and children with any language development needs were limited to 30 minutes weekly,

School vouchers are a scam to send taxpayer money to private religious schools. Vouchers are also a violation of church and state.

it's always a balancing act for me to respond to DATV theories because on the one hand, i like to give people context for why certain things happened or certain choices were made
but on the other, i really love leaving people that space to theorize in, and i hate 'word of god' shrinking that space
