As a kid, I liked little roller-coasters. Then at Hemisfair, I not only rode a big one for the first time, I was put in the *front car* alone....and I have not been on a roller coaster since and have no plan to do it. OTOH, I've been a writer for decades now, and that moment of climbing up....

I'm terrified of riding roller coasters, so naturally, I've strapped myself into the rickety wooden cart of being a writer through free falls and climbs of "what the hell am I even doing?" and "hey, neat, this is pretty alright I think."

The space, the time, the trained staff, etc. But they don't, and they won't, in the foreseeable future. Vouchers to allow parents to choose bad, bigoted, schools that do not actually teach what kids will need are just a theft from taxpayers. When I was a kid, parents paid for alternative schools.

Kid is now a 40-something man, able to communicate effectively with others in limited ways. Can learn from books or online sources, shop for himself, manage his money, etc. We both worked hard to get to that point. Ideally, all schools would have the resources to do the daily work I did with him.

Agreed. Where school vouchers MIGHT be reasonably employed is for special needs students to access therapies not available to a school system. When our son was little, our ISD was part of a "rural spec ed co-op" and children with any language development needs were limited to 30 minutes weekly,

School vouchers are a scam to send taxpayer money to private religious schools. Vouchers are also a violation of church and state.
