PA IPL is hosting an abandoned gas well guided walk in Bradford, PA, on Sunday October 19th at 10:30am!
This three-mile loop route will take us past abandoned wells in people’s yards, near schools, a hospital, and more. It also passes other oil and gas infrastructures within the city of Bradford.

Ms. Lavigne is founder of RISE St. James, a faith-based, grassroots nonprofit that led a ‘David vs Goliath’ battle to stop a massive plastics plant from being built in her Louisiana community. She is the recipient of multiple environmental and faith-based awards for her activism and leadership.

This week’s reflection on our convening theme of love, faith, and justice comes from Sameem Ahmadazai, who is a recent graduate from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Urban Studies. He works for the Asian American Community Fund as the Eastern Pennsylvania Voter Registration Manager.

Everyone has a story to share, and we believe those stories are powerful for activating change. That’s why we’ve created two surveys which will inform our faith & fossil fuels report. We want your voice to be represented!

The oil boom left nearly 750,000 uncapped gas wells, polluting the soil and groundwater, and making entire communities of people sick. Impacts include increased air pollution, extreme weather events and temperatures, contaminated water, and more.

Did you know that oil drilling started in Pennsylvania in 1859? This quickly led to an oil boom, and the state began to produce one third of the world’s oil. Pennsylvania has a long history with fossil fuels! Today, Pennsylvania has the highest number of operational coal fired-power plants in the US

Today is the Fall Equinox! It is also Sharad Navratri which brings nine days of devotion, rituals, and celebrations for Hindus! To those who celebrate, may the auspicious occasion of Navratri bring you good health, wealth, and success. Wishing you a joyous and prosperous celebration!
