The original Switch cartridges' flash chips are significantly slower than the new ones, but if we're using them for a local install option, only, they would probably be fine enough for that.

Addendum: Yes, more capacity = more expensive, but also less speed = less expensive.

Publishers save money, consumers get true physical games (even if some will still be unhappy with having to install the game first), Nintendo keeps 3rd party support => mostly everyone wins!

If the fast Switch 2 game cards are not cost-effective to produce at lower capacities and developers don't want to shell out the $15 for a 64 GB game card, you meet them in the middle with a slower cartridge that requires installs, but that is cheaper.

Sure, if we have games above 64 GB and 128 GB flash chips are not cost-effective at either Switch 1 or Switch 2 speeds, then we can talk about key cards for those releases, but right now, it's smaller releases that have made up the majority of Game Key Card games.

Blu Ray disks are cheap. The flash chips the Switch 2 game cards use are not, but the ones the Switch 1 used were, hence why we see game devs releasing physical Switch 1 games but game key cards of the same game on Switch 2.

There are still a ton of games that don't require an internet connection to run off the disk on PS5. Xbox has more issues with game installs requiring the Internet because they did not change to the newer Blu Ray disks with higher capacity on Series X.

The upside would be that you have perpetual access to the game data, even when the online servers are unavailable, which is good for preservation, collectors, and gamers who want to keep playing their games forever.

If nothing else, I would like to see a way for games to continue to be able to be enjoyed into perpetuity, whether it be in the form of a standalone disk or cartridge, or in the form of a non-revocable digital game installer (i.e., GOG game installers)

SNS is more noisy. Selective surveys can help them get data that's easier to digest and pinpoint what people's main reasons to buy physical are. So social media isn't entirely useless, but it isn't perfect, either.

They can make Game Key Cards into "Game Install Cards" or something... Have them include a copy of the game on them and then force an install. They can then use slower cartridges and/or higher capacities.

It's not a perfect solution, still, but regardless, it is an option.

They did mention PC handhelds, though (Steam Deck) iirc. Maybe they consider that as more direct competition and PC gaming as a whole more as indirect competition.

I didn't really notice major typos, but I did notice the one question with no fill-in-the-blank box.

The survey changes based on what you answer, so probably there was a bug with that particular question.

This is not uncommon for surveys, from my experience.

Nintendo released a survey asking for feedback on physical and digital games.

This is definitely the chance to make your voice heard about Switch 2 Game Key Cards.
