Woah this is like unearthing a hidden gem you gotta preserve these copies.

You can only keep two of these big budget 1990s era A-list period drama horror films.

PS - I don’t think Mary Reilly is quite as bad as its reputation.

A stack of early FX storyboards and meeting notes from 20th Century Fox on ALIEN before Ridley Scott came onboard. Drawn by Cobb and Foss (pre Giger and Moebius). Dated 1977.

A friend gave me these copies many years ago as his uncle worked at the studio during the development of the film.

Some of these are the very same rental videos that I rented as a kid back in the ‘video nasty’ days. 😁

The narrative is very lively and engaging and has a great sense of cinematic pacing and plot beats that I think a lot of indie adventure game developers could learn from.

Plus the Australian voice acting/narration is very engaging and top notch.

This image brought back memories. I loved Space Harrier in the mid 1980s and as part of a school project I recreated the graphics (from memory) to create a mock C64 version.

A year or so later in 1988 I was employed to create the graphics for all home versions of the Sega sequel - Space Harrier 2.

I’ve been playing a lot of indie adventure games recently and my favourite is “The Drifter.” Plays out like a John Carpenter film/story with an appropriate synth soundtrack.

It’s not pedestrian and puts you straight into dangerous action. It has a great sense of drive that I really appreciate.

Ahhh… that time I returned to the world of “MediEvil” a couple of years ago for the remake and a continuation of the game as a graphic novel… pantomime humour, a frisky not yet dead Fortesque, dastardly Zarok and farting uncouth fairies! 😆 💀
