Seems an odd way to do it, but maybe my expectations of revamps have been shaped by the 90s when it happened every few years. The Observer changed their logo end of last year and the old one is still printed on some of the sections each weekβ¦

New look, yay! Masthead harks back to the glory days - fab. Listings inside same design as since what, 2010? Which when you think about the changes in TV viewing since then is less good.

The Observer app costs Β£15.99 a month. Itβs unclear whether it lets you do something as unfashionable as actually read the paper. Given the Guardian never really built up the Obs name outside of Sunday print, that is what people associate it with, so it could be an uphill struggle for Tortoise.

It looks as though any Sunday print subscribers have been moved over, but if you had a digital sub or got Editions through a print sub to another day, thatβs it.

Guardian Editions app announces end of Observer support from 25th Jan
Speaking of the Guardian, looks like the Observer ties are being severed in the Editions app (which basically allows you to read the paper as a big PDF on tablet or phone) after this Sunday. I love the βhostage messageβ vibes from this
