Students' parents at my workplace are sharing a petition against a bill expanding sex ed in the country. The petition goes as far as calling the acceptance of homosexuality "harmful".

I am absolutely seething.

I feel sad, angry, scared and just incredibly frustrated.

And my job is responsible for more than a bit of this. How can there be things I love so much about this job and also things that disgust me so much? Sometimes I wish I had a job I felt a bit more indifferent about.

Got called "ma'am" for the first time in the Philippines yesterday. It was our pizza delivery guy and I love him for that.

I still get called "sir" 5-10 times a day courtesy of security guards greeting me every time I pass by, and students being used to calling me that after 8 years.

But still!

I keep crying every other hour today. Incredible how quickly this week turned to shit, and with life altering consequences too.

I am always completely and utterly freaked out before flying. Don't mind the airplanes at all but the airports basically terrify me.

Three days to get back home...

I hate that process so much. I know I'm massively privileged to be able to go visit my family once in a while but still. 😔

Family dinner out! So we made ourselves pretty for the occasion! 🥰

And then we massively struggled to take a selfie together. 🤭

2. The hematologist I was there to see didn't approach me in the waiting room because she was expecting a male patient based on my file.

3. A nurse saw my given name while labelling blood samples and asked why it wasn't spelt like the feminine version of it.

So very pleasant for a hospital visit!

1. A secretary watched me coming in, looked at me in the eyes and asked me "what can I do for you ma'am?". It's not the first time I get gendered correctly but it's the first time it happens with someone who got a good look at me. Also she didn't "correct" herself after I spoke.

Today was an interesting day. I had to spend a few hours in the hospital as we were investigating a condition I have.

And I got three separate gender affirming moments from three complete strangers. Which is more than I've ever had until now.

My dad complimented my makeup today. That's a big deal! 😊😃

First self-injection done. It was both terrifying and at the same time easier than I thought it would be.

I got scared when I saw the 20 gauge needle, but it wasn't all that painful.

Repulsorcutioner is a hell of a mouthful. Had to google that one 😅

What kind of opponent do you think this list would struggle against?

We're with my extended family for the week. So far they've been doing a good job calling me Emmy even if the pronouns need work.

And earlier as we were toasting with one of my aunts and her husband, she loudly declared at the end that we'll always be accepted and loved just as we are. 💜

Oh that's cool! I'm glad GW finally gave them a bit more love and care. They were pretty underdeveloped for a major race when I was starting out in the early 2000s.

Pretty cool list! Is it still a very rarely played race? I remember them being super unloved in my day.

Magnetized bases are incredibly convenient and cool.

Omg yes! I actually played Wind Rose nonstop last time I did a dwarf campaign in TW:WH.

Oh that's true! Very convenient, especially considering how bulky it can be to travel with an army.

Oh Dwarfs would have very much been my second choice for OW! Always felt a strong affinity for them. Love playing them in TW:WH which is about as close as I get to the whole universe nowadays.

That's awesome! So what armies do you play?

I played Imperial Guard and Bretonnia. But I haven't touched any of my minis in over 10 years. I'm also suuuper behind on the rule sets. I used to play 5e for 40k and I think 8e for WHFB.

Ah I see. I used to love planning army lists. Even for races I didn't play sometimes. It's very satisfying.

I love that there were a few in their 30s and even Ayumi at 41, and all were exceptional!
