We managed to gather 1 448 270 signatures across EU countries. Now let's hope at least a million of those signatures are valid and Eurocomission will do as much as possible for saving games and not a bare minimum.

#stopkillinggames initiative wants to make games playable AFTER End-of-Support from the publisher. Nobody wants to host servers forever and actually this initiative isn't against GaaS model if such games would have EoL version of a game.

If you're a citizen of EU, you still can sign it to make your voice matter. Save videogames from publishers that destroy them with online-DRM meanwhile saying that "gamers own nothing"!

...В индустрии это уже показывали неоднократно (Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, Dragon Quest X Offline), это никак на конкурентов не влияет. Более того, это конкуренты диктуют тренды рынка, так как совокоты в разы меньше и нишевее, чем Ubisoft, EA, Microsoft и т.п. Рынок порешал за "You own nothing".

Зачем?
1. Инициатива не требует поддержания полной функциональности. Кооп имеет тот же контент, что и соло-игра (но лагучее). Одиночная игра спокойно запускается без сервера.
2. Инициатива работает только при окончании сервиса. Пока сервис работает, ничего делать не надо.
3. Это дело одного патча.

Actually, it's a pretty common thing in EULAs for publishers. For example, let's take Saint's Row 3: store.steampowered.com/eula/eula_55230?eulaLang=english

One time I watched a review of Anno 2070 and immediately bought the game. Unfortunately, Ubisoft wanted to kill the multiplayer servers of this game... however Ubisoft Mainz, developer of the game, intervened and stopped them. That trick didn't work with The Crew. #stopkillinggames

I remember reading about Battlefield 2142 and being so taken by it. Unfortunately, I didn't have internet at the time, and later it turned out that all online components of the game were destroyed by the Gamespy shutdown. Since then EA just constantly hunting independent servers. #stopkillinggames

My first online game was Sphere 2: Arena. I remember installing it from a magazine disc that had its client on it. It wasn't the best game, but I spent a few interesting days playing it and it stuck in my memory. When I wanted to play it again a couple of years later, it was gone. #stopkillinggames
