One of my favorite parts of making Blanche was writing the item descriptions (and "where she found it" text) for the trinkets you could win. It was fun writing for our friendly—if naive—little treasure collector. 😄 #playdate

It took me a bit longer than I expected, perhaps, but that's "true" ending (or whatever you want to call it) on Silksong. What a fantastic game! Not sure I'll ever hit 100%, but that was quite an experience. Bravo.

Books of Time. Each player has three ring binders in front of them, representing books made of cards. Similar cards are arranged in a central market between the players. A board off to the side features tracks with markers at different levels. There’s a lectern on the other side, with a brown-cover book sitting on it.

Mille Fiori. A central board is broken into separate areas, each with spaces that can hold a small translucent diamond of plastic (representing a glass tile). There’s also a market of cards beside the board.

Magical Athlete. The central board is a race track, and the racer pieces—some currently on the track with others set beside it—feature cartoon artwork of various characters.

This week, I played Books of Time, Mille Fiori, and Magical Athlete.

We just got our COVID/flu shots, and I spent the whole time wishing the pharmacist had a little table.

He had so much stuff, and he had to balance it all on each other on top of a little plastic set of drawers. He was pretty good at it, which suggests he's been without a little table for a while.

I've reached credits in Silksong for the first time after about 30 hours. Fantastic game. Well worth the wait and then some.

There's a track in the Silksong soundtrack that reminds me of Tomohito Nishiura's work. And every time I'm in that area, it makes me yearn for some more Professor Layton.

Bicycle-brand Sparrow Hanafuda Fusion Playing Cards. The box features an illustration of a sparrow. The cards are spread in an arc, showing indices for both the standard poker values and also the flowers from the hanafuda suits. Each card appears to have full art on its face.

The aces and twos from the deck. The aces are the January pine suit, and the art depicts pine trees with a crane and some sparrows flying past a sun and towards a poetry ribbon. The twos are the February plum blossom suit and depict a bush warbler and sparrows also flying by a poetry ribbon.

I found this very nice Bicycle-branded hanafuda fusion deck of cards, designed by Juniardi Satyanagara.
