There's Oshkosh in the summer and Sun 'n Fun in the spring but when it comes to winter, Alton Bay ice runway in New Hampshire (B18) might be the best general aviation gathering in the world. No wonder a record number of aircraft have visited this year already. Few of my favorite photos below.

Hydrofoiling boats are on the rise. They're not quite flying though.

No groomed trails but you can create your own urban track in the Providence area. Great for after work xc skiing.

Adjusted the curves to make the halos pop and more clearly visible. In my last post you can see a comparison between the 70-200f4 and the 100-400 lenses, both on the 5Dmk4.

Looks like the issue is with the lens or the lens-body combo. Same photo, both at 200mm f8, one with the 70-200 and the other with the 100-400.

That's the next step. Will try tomorrow in daylight. Still a bummer though as this lens (70-200) is the one I use the most.

These were taken at f8-f9. Same lens does not produce any halos on my other bodies at any range (f4-f22) tested.

Question to other photographers: my new camera and lens combo is resulting in weird halos both with and without lens correction for vignetting. Never had any issues with this lens before. Could the new camera have something going on with its sensor?

Perfect timing. Just finished the JSX/ATR episode this morning. Now I have something to listen to on the way home.

Found some aviation relics sitting in a junkyard in Rhode Island. They were likely part of the collection at the Quonset Air Museum. Anyone knows who they belong to now?
