Saying war is awful and to be avoided is common sense, saying “you automatically lose by fighting back anyway” is just mad waffle.

I guess the better thing is to ask how the perception of defence can be changed here (short of being invaded). There’s a bit of support for paying soldiers better but not so much for spend on equipment.

I think Irish people in general have such a weird idea about what neutral means. They say “we’re neutral” but then absolutely rail against any means we’d need to really back up a claim of neutrality.
