it's one thing to decide to platform him (which I think is a bad moderation decision). but it's downright cruel to troll a marginalized community that he's been relentlessly targeting for almost a decade when we voice our concerns!

Emily VanDerWerff reacts to Singal’s pile-on of her here and, two days later, discusses the aftermath of that pile-on (which included “Death threats, rape threats, invitations to commit suicide, constant misgendering, etc”). Ari Drennen took screenshots of Singal targeting Aja Romano. Because Singal’s attack on Emily VanDerWerff was premised on his false presumption that she was trying to get one of her employers fired (which she has denied), lots of other writers began coming forward with stories of Singal contacting their employers and editors because he disliked what they wrote. Here are some of those instances: Jul 7, 2020 – Katelyn Burns on Singal “repeatedly emailing my employer until they fired me” is found here. A week later a co-worker corroborated that story. I appreciate it. None of this is to say that there aren't people that respect or value me and my work. It's more about keeping an emotional distance so you don't get too hurt when it does happen. I don't always follow my own advice.

This happened on a book that I colored nearly 50 consecutive issues of, a thing I don't think I'm soon to repeat. You're disposable, don't trick yourself into thinking otherwise.

Over the past few years, I had a couple of long form and/or labor intensive things get fancier, collected editions, and then not been included in promotion, and in some cases my name excluded from the covers of the books themselves.

I feel like the only way to remain sane as a colorist is to never view what you do as anything other than a job. While I've had collaborations that were respectful and rewarding, your work is so often minimized or outright ignored, there's little point in being emotionally invested in any of it.

I definitely don't think it makes sense to use it for all games, but think it's really effective in certain cases. On top of accentuating the anxiety and fear in that game, the locations in the original RE2 just feel more iconic to me, even though they're pretty faithfully recreated in the remake.

Yeah, and it just allows for more intention in directing your focus (or lack therof). It's cool being able to view your surroundings in full 3d, but sometimes I feel like I actually notice and take in the surroundings less than if there were one, directed angle.

I miss the use of prerendered backgrounds and/or fixed camera angles in games (especially horror)
