Why did thousands of adult titles just disappear from the biggest PC gaming marketplaces? Digital distribution platforms Steam and itch.io have tightened their rules about adult content – under pressure from payment processors. Why has this happened and where will it lead?

Steam and itch.io have removed thousands of video games in recent weeks deemed to be "adult content" in order to comply with strict rules from payment processors like Mastercard.

These policies censor artists engaged in lawful speech. Mastercard shouldn't be the gatekeepers of our digital freedom.

Its a barley functional picture of a computer with a large amount of edits onto it: There are 2 PCIE SSDs, one of them covered in steam. The SSDs themselves are two NVME SSDs connected together with Flex Tape connected to AAA batteries. There is "3D RAM" on the computer. It is a large amount of RAM sticks compressed into a cube. The 3D RAM is installed 9 times in a square on the right side, where what looks to be an optical drive. 3 more peices of 3D RAM installed to the fan. A GTX 745 is on the bottom right. There is a 3rd generation Intel Core i3 in the center. On the left there is an "Overclocked uncertified USB" port that is spewing fire out, being blown out by the fan. It runs SteamOS. One of the widgets in the taskbar is a clock made of 2 snoob faces, one of them is purple.
