I just met with Mohsen Mahdawi where he’s being held in Vermont.

He was detained when he showed up for his citizenship interview.

He should be released so he can become a citizen.

ICE stripped a German green card holder naked, drove him from Boston to Vermont to Rhode Island, put him in a cold shower, deprived him of medication, sleep and food until he collapsed.

This is why we must fight for everyone. Whether they’ve been incarcerated or have had contact with the criminal legal system or are merely undocumented. When you accept that some people are deserving of detention and deportation the scope of who is eligible is always under threat of expanding.

It's a standard authoritarian playbook to target the most marginalized groups with the least institutional support first. But Trump won't stop there. He will expand these illegal arrests, detentions and deportations to include anyone whose speech he doesn't like, including U.S. citizens.

Yes. If DHS can barge in, say your visa was revoked, be told you have a green card, say it's revoked too, and then disappear you so that neither your lawyer nor your family can find you, then all the guardrails are gone. There is no policy, practice, or law protecting anyone.
