Pill on my tongue - metallic? No, bitter? Yes or maybe mint.
The nurse smiles. Did she call the dead man? Ghost calls echo.
Hands reach or wait or nothing. Maybe shadows.
Swallowing. Am I swallowing? Not swallowing.
Swallowing her smile, swallowing the lies - but I only feel metal.

There are two things I hate the most:
needles and worms, can't stand their host.
Both dig in, both drink slow.
Both whisper, "you need me to grow".

Two weeks ago, larvae hatched in my kitchen.
The smell was sweet, like memory's rot.
I watched them writhe, little ghosts of repetition,
feeding where I swore I'd stop.

I was sick, couldn't clean,
just kept watching the skin between thoughts peel.
The house hums, the veins hum and I keep wishing:
I don't have to kill. I don't have to kill.

But they live in the warmth of my weakness.
They bloom where the needle has been.
Every time I think I'm done with the feeling,
it finds another way in.

I don't have to kill.
I whisper it slow, until it kills the will to heal.

Every now and then, I'm in the mood to open my wounds.
Each time I try to seek resolve,
I scar my mind, I've got scars on my brain.
At night, I can't rest my legs; I'm always ready to run.
Sometimes, I forget what I find comfort in.

I was thinking about dead people and the breathing walls:

I wanted to forget so much, I forgot to breathe that night.
Curled up on a bed that wasn't mine,
waiting for a death that wasn't mine.
I opened my eyes for the first time,
I came back to a clean slate mind.
