Statement from Michael and Susan Pretti Parents of Alex Jeffrey Pretti “We are heartbroken but also very angry. Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately, he will not be with us to see his impact. I do not throw around the ‘hero’ term lightly. However, his last thought and act was to protect a woman. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He had his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down, all while being pepper sprayed. The first Minnesota murder, they refused to let a medical professional help the woman they shot. The second Minnesota murder, they simply shot the medical professional.

Just staggered by the complete moral void of not even *pretending* to wait for more information before pivoting to “the opponent of the state deserved it.” It is so insanely depraved. Soulless.

So, if multiple agents tackle a person to the ground, beat him, and then shoot him repeatedly, they cannot later say it was ok cause they later found he was armed - which is neither a crime nor one that carries the penalty of immediate execution.

There's no Nobel prize for killing civilians.

* 8 people shot
* 5 of which were U.S. citizens
* 2 died
* no victims drew a weapon

Profoundly disturbing that Trump Regime released a video of a murderer: circling his victim who is exuding calm kindness to him, killing the victim as she tries to get away, calling her F*cking B*tch after he shoots her, and then Trump Regime loudly proclaiming how this exonerates murderer.

The evidence is increasingly pointing to the probability that an ICE agent killed a woman after misreading her as a threat because he was distracted by his simultaneous effort to record her so he could upload her image to a facial recognition database.

I know there are a lot of big stories. And I have long ago learned not to over-react to crazy things Trump says. But him telling the NYT that the only limitation on his power is his own conscience is profoundly disturbing. Because that is dictator territory. And because he has no conscience.

IMHO, this is the best way to frame this. Whether the shooting was or was not legally justified (and remember that the legal precedent tends to be incredibly cop friendly) is very different from whether the Trump administration is telling the truth about what happened. They are not. They are lying.
