Looking at this again and I see it's the Alleluia verse. Leaving because you can't edit bsky posts, but yes, I do know my mass parts.

The responsorial psalm at mass today, but the cantor sang, "all shall see the salvation..." I guess sixth-century Merovingians aren't the only people who are uncomfortable with flesh.

It's not often that us medievalists encounter an ACTUAL DRAGON in our work, but here is one burninating the countryside and also the city of Laon.

Check it out in Bnf. Fr. 22928, fol. 210v (Miracles de Notre Dame by Gautier de Coincy).

Thank you - this is helpful. PDF xchange was able to OCR the PDFs in their huge size, but I'm glad to know that printing to PDF makes them a normal size. (The Venantius one was so huge that it kept failing halfway through the process)

PSA for everyone who uses the MGH and is looking for a software to handle their ginormous PDFs: PDF XChange has a free version that handles them better than Adobe Pro! #medievalists #medieval #lateantique

The only search I found on MGH searches the entire MGH. I haven't figured out how to search individual volumes. Can you?

I have the text and the Roberts, so I can read them, but I want to do some word searches to check frequency and contexts for certain flesh synonyms, and I can't find a searchable medium. (Library of Latin Texts doesn't have him 😭)

Need help from a medievalist: what do we do with these obscenely large PDFs from the MGH? How do you search them? How do you make them smaller? Venantius Fortunatus poems are 1000MB!! Please help! #medieval #medievalsky #lateantique

Just enjoyed scrolling the #AARSBL25 hashtag with my morning coffee, and it's giving old school academic Twitter. It may be too soon to say, but didn't we do it? Are we back?

I'm a text person and controversially passed out handouts at NAPS in 2022. Perhaps now that it's not as much of a public health concern, people who don't need to show images specifically no longer feel compelled to have PowerPoint.

Scrivener is more useful for writing (obsidian is more brainstorming and research cataloging), AND a very affordable one time purchase. Definitely worth it.

Perhaps colloquially, since I work at a US Catholic school (US Catholicism is definitely real, but also multifaceted and regional and politically divided). @arturoviaggia.bsky.social also comes to mind.

When researching Merovingian flesh takes you down a rabbit hole and you suddenly find yourself reading Ovid for the first time since the Roman lit survey over a decade ago. Can't. Escape. Classics.

For the Feast of St. Martin - and old selfie with his equestrian portrait in the Cleveland Museum of Art (because it always kills me that at some point in the middle ages, he somehow acquired a horse) #medieval
