Yes, and we all need to put in time, not just money. We can't buy the right kind of candidates, we are going to have to be them or build them with our own hands.

10.11.2025 13:35 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The next big thing from AI is vibe economy crashing.
10.11.2025 13:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The systems we have are failing, because the most powerful actors in those systems have consistently failed to deliver good things for a lot of people. When systems fail, we often turn to faith.
This time, for a lot of folks, it's faith in a magical machine that will solve all our problems. ππΎ
Primary them all
10.11.2025 03:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Since the Democrats worked extra hard to hide who actually supported this, I think the No Kings/Resistance position should be to primary every Democrat unless they publicly call for Schumer's ouster this week
Either they go into total rebellion mode, which they won't, or the people will
Hey @schumer.senate.gov way to fail hard. Seven weeks of showdown over the shutdown so you could get nothing is some pretty weak shit, even compared to the normal lack of spine. A lot of people went through a lot of pain and you're throwing that all away for what, exactly?
10.11.2025 03:16 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I just called Schumer. If they cave, I won't be giving money to the Democrats again. Individual candidates may get my support, but I'm done with any party that throws in the towel now.
09.11.2025 23:46 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The funny part is that intelligence abounds. We're surrounded by sentient and sapient organisms that many would deny have consciousness. But the minute we build a pretty good text generator, it's all "welp that machine is clearly a thinking, feeling being". π
09.11.2025 14:37 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The confusion of parallel mechanisms producing similar outputs with the idea that those mechanisms must be similar in nature is a frustrating fallacy. AI doesn't imply human-like intelligence or consciousness in machines. It implies that there are many ways to do some of the things our minds do.
09.11.2025 14:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A challenge to creating strong mental models of what's happens inside AI is that much of how we describe it relies on metaphor and analogies. We don't have a good vocabulary for machines that produce the outputs we see now. That keeps leading us down the wrong path about what they are or can do.

To see the sacrifice and duty of his fellow Black veterans of that war erased is incredibly painful and deeply shameful. Fuck everyone responsible for this.
It's always a good sign when you need to get government to bail out your massive cash burning machine

06.11.2025 15:35 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is, of course, false. Americans LOVE socialism when we get it, as long as it's not called socialism. And on average, it works better than the alternative.

Our company is having a 1920s holiday party, AGAIN, and I really want to rant about how 1) it wasn't a great era for a lot of people and 2) the terrible next couple of decades sucked directly because of that, too

The correct way to handle somethingβanythingβfrom Musk is to kick it to the curb. No "well there's this one thing that's pretty good about it". Total shutout.
It's amazing how the answer, no matter how you feel about it, is "you've got to embrace Gen AI". Bonkers.
30.10.2025 20:02 β π 13 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0This is super helpful. I have been questioning LLM task performance for a while, in part because I don't think most of the testing is based on a strong model of the task at hand.
I believe this is a significant contributor to differences of opinion on LLM performance.
There's few things more delicious than seeing a wrongheaded opinion obliterated by truth.

Sorry to bang this drum again, but, the main thing that Neoliberalism as an economic model did was to decouple GDP growth from increases in the standard of living.
