But yes, HDMI can be used for other things, should one be so inclined.
All the processing of the game is being handled inside the controller itself, usually by a some kind of microcontroller or FPGA. Since the HDMI handles both audio and video output (compressed or uncompressed), it's not doing anything out of the ordinary in this case.

I'm just wrapping up Authority, book 2 in the Southern Reach trilogy. It's not gripping me as much as Annihilation, the first book. The cosmic/psych horror element of book 1 sort of takes a back seat to the more conspiratorial feeling of book 2, but I'm still here for it!

Can we change this shit up anytime soon?

Screenshot of an X.com post by The Associated Press (@AP) stating that dozens of immigrant families protested for better treatment behind fences at a Texas detention facility, where a 5-year-old Ecuadorian boy and his father were sent after being detained in Minnesota. Below is a video thumbnail showing a crowd gathered outdoors along a fenced walkway; many people wear bright blue or red outerwear, and some hold signs.
After being held in two of them as a boy, I fought for decades urging America to never again build concentration camps and put human beings in them. It breaks my heart to watch this happen twice now in my own lifetime.

24.01.2026 12:10 — 👍 5 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I could not stick with it either. I found the whole thing dry, save for the monster design. Legendary has built out their Godzilla universe nicely in the films and show, but they really need better writers who can produce a compelling narrative that gives the audience something to invest in.
24.01.2026 12:03 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I wrote my own note, too, saying that I am happy that my wife chose me. She is and always will be my safe space.
But the photo is my reminder that I have to try and do better, even if it seems like nobody else is...because, hey, *someone* wrote each of those notes and just wants to be #happy.
As I kept reading, I was overcome with a weird mix of frustration and dread. We humans are so awful to each other, even when we don't mean to be, and we communicate really, really poorly. I held that feeling, knowing that I had to try to do better, at least for those around me.

A lot of them end up implying the author of the note is coping with something, like loss or a limitation imposed on their life by external forces, be they innocuous or purely evil.
23.01.2026 11:26 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0The photo I took was of a little hallway toward the back where visitors are encouraged to jot down what makes them happy on a post-it note. At first it's fun, but as you read them, getting through the "boobs" or "booze" ones, you start hitting the ones that sort of make you sad.

It's from the Happiness Museum in Copenhagen, a tiny place that looks at a rather big question; what makes individuals and communities happy?
