"The ... government has produced no plan to justify this dramatic change. It has not said what strategy the extra money will be meant to implement, nor what weapons ... the money will be used to produce. What is all this money meant to do? We do not know. For there is no plan. None at all."

Long-awaited changes to BC’s private forests not coming, government confirms Despite years of fighting by local governments to force legislative changes, the priority for the province's Forests ministry is protecting jobs in the sector, which has been impacted by the trade war...

Communities on Vancouver Island have been asking for changes to how privately managed forests work for years. The BC government confirmed to CNO that those changes are not coming.

For the past four years Suncor, Imperial, CNRL, etc. have all posted quarter after quarter after quarter of record profits while announcing share buybacks and increasing shareholder dividends.

CNRL has increased its dividend for 25 consecutive years.

Why the fuck should I be making sacrifices?

Thinking ahead to tomorrow's federal budget and all the talk of Canadians needing to make sacrifices, I can't help but wonder when the wealthiest few might be asked to do that.

Unfortunately I don't think that's part of the plan.

The otters are at it again! A surfer at Steamer Lane was bitten on the foot by a sea otter (definitely not Steve) who then stole her board for 20 minutes. Officials aren’t sure if it’s the infamous Otter 841 or a bold copycat — either way, the legend continues 🦦🏄‍♀️

If it wasn’t already clear the direction AI policy was going under Mark Carney and Evan Solomon, this task force makes it clear.

The inclusion of the chair of Build Canada, whose members openly pushed for a Canadian DOGE and Poilievre government earlier this year, is just one of many examples.

Once launched, click "Data Sources" then "Add Provincial Layers" you can search for "Land Districts" and pick the "Colour Themed" one, check it's box and click "OK"—you can find the raw data on databc.gov.bc.ca.

At this point, has Mark Carney made any decisions that Pierre Poilievre wouldn't? So far he's playing nice with Trump, promising massive cuts to federal programs so he can spike military spending, and passing multiple bills of dubious constitutionality.

An absolutely deplorable record so far.

Maybe we should deal with the Canadian Armed Forces' very obvious right-wing extremism problem before giving it 5% of our national GDP.

...Or, maybe we could keep that money and not cut public spending by 15%?

If your nationalism is just hockey references; memories of a few brands now owned by oligarchs and hedge funds; songs and shows from a long-dead era of Cancon; and stories about universal health care that haven't been true for decades, you might as well just pack the whole thing in. It's cooked.
