And not only watch. BBC Radio Five Live just incredible all weekend. Sport is better on the radio, especially when Mark Chapman, Ian Carter and the team are delivering it. This level of coverage sinply doesnโt exist in other countries. I feel lucky to have it.

I donโt even massively like watching golf, but this is quite clearly one of the best tournaments in any sport. Just unrivalled drama. And the partisan edge lends so much, especially compared to regular golf. An absolute joy to watch, once again.

There was an astonishing vox pop on a recent Guardian daily pod in which a protester justified being a "normal, concerned person", and not far-right, by claiming that the government/Labour were in fact "far-left Marxists", placing him firmly in the centre of political discourse.

I would be interested in this too. Anecdotally, all of the people I knew who smoked regularly at that time now vape instead.

I once had one of these at the Monaco Grand Prix, of all places. A litre can! They sold them at a little kiosk next to the grandstand where we were sat, and it was actually decent value. Maybe โฌ5? It was 2008 but still.

Not sure if you heard it but Joe Root speaking about Shoaib Bashir on TMS after the match in much a similar vein. Go back and catch it if you can.

Worst thing is they then use simply Sevilla as a synonym later on, like the equivalent of "Sevillaโs manager saidโฆ" Horrendous!

By which time there won't be a single cycling fan left in the UK thanks to exclusivity deals and the destruction of an entire network's broadcasting legacy! You're right: insanity.
28.02.2025 21:45 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0
I agree, it's a disgrace. It's also a real problem for fans of cycling (exacerbated by WBD gaining exclusive rights to Le Tour from 2026), niche motorsport (WEC particularly) and winter sports. The only logical conclusion will be that these sports to lose their UK fanbase altogether sooner or later.

Haha really? That doesnt surprise me. Itโs such a shame itโs so hard to get across without a car. Iโve heard Newhaven is a better option for foot passengers though.

If I ever needed to get to the UK super short notice (from Germany), the cheapest option would almost certainly be: get to Belgium, SNCB ticket to Tournai then Lille, SNCF regio to Calais, then bike passenger on the ferry. Lucky to have a folding bike which would be free the whole way on the train.

Itโs this: www.leshuttle.com/uk-en/travel...
In my experience, ferry is better/cheaper. Itโs so much easier to travel on a ferry with a bike than as a foot passenger. You can get on way more sailings and itโs not so much of a faff. Itโs almost worth bringing a bike just for that part.
