Everyone needs to be enthusiastic about throwing the R’s out on their heads.I agree that D infighting, purity ideology and tone-deaf messaging has hurt. Our sole purpose for the few elections-if we still have them-is to throw out the R’s. Then we can start work on D’s and strengthen the guardrails.

It did take a long time.I don’t think it was loyalty to the R’s that kept him working within that machine.He states it was comfort with his personal situation: job,money, predictability.And fear of letting that go.Not ideology. He stuffed his growing disillusion with R for lifestyle.
