It's almost like... like maybe the fascism *never* actually arose from working class "economic anxiety"... like maybe the working class *weren't* actually the ones radicalised by bourgeois resentment of "cancel culture" and "wokeness"... like maybe the working class have... more pragmatic priorities

also our political anthem is literally called the Internationale! it’s far more reasonable for us to care about NYC than it is for right-wingers to care about Trump

Ezra Klein This Is the Way You Beat Trump — and Trumpism

I saw a poll a few weeks ago that struck me. It was from The New York Times and Siena University. It asked Americans what they thought the top problem facing the country was. No. 1 was the economy. That was what I expected. But No. 2 wasn’t immigration or inflation or democracy or climate change or even Trump. It was political division. In that same poll, 64 percent of the country said we’re too divided to solve our problems. They’re not wrong.

I hear it when Trump says, “I hate my opponent and I don’t want the best for them.” When I hear that, I hear something scary, but I also hear an opening, an opportunity: In the end, most Americans want America to work. They know we disagree with one another. They don’t want us to hate one another.

I will never understand the pundit obsession with getting Democrats to solve "political division."

Not only is this what they're already doing, but Klein admits that Republicans will never do the same. So elections will remain constant GOP smears and simping Democratic promises of bipartisanship.

So it wasn't fireworks. It was a calculated and deliberate attempt at the mass murder of men, women and children.

Irish media domestic news: let’s get Declan Ganley on again to say our democracy is corrupt and country overrun by immigrants. Oh and John Collison to tell us how to run the state as a techbro enterprise.

Thank God Eimer is there cause none of these people, TDs included, seem to give a shit when it's a white Irish man brutalizing, abusing, or murdering women or children

Clever by Norway to distract Trump from invading them in a fit of pique by giving it to a ‘peace activist’ who really wants him to invade Venezuela instead.

Someone asked me earlier why I don’t do more than AI, and the answer is that every time I look deeper into AI I see more evidence that this is a massive, unbelievable failure, propped up by webs of debt and ignorance, private capital fully believes there’s massive AI demand that does not exist.

Every time a reactionary ‘taboo-breaker’ becomes a free speech icon/martyr, sacralisation demands that their critics are fired, silenced, threatened, purged. This gets called hypocrisy, but that would require free speech be a coherent idea, rather than the technology of power it’s always been.

This is real police state behaviour.
