Churchill, Roosevelt & Stalin met at Yalta. In a joint statement, they committed to removing the Nazi Party, orgs & institutions from public office. They promised to form an international organization that would unite and secure all the nations.

#OTD 10 February 1944. A transport of 1,015 Jews deported from Westerbork in the German-occupied Netherlands arrived at Auschwitz. SS doctors sent 142 men & 73 women to the camp.

The remaining 800 people were murdered in gas chambers.
Eva & Liane Münzer (7 & 5) were among them.

Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels photographed as he finds out the photographer, Alfred Eisenstaedt, is Jewish.

The photo was captured at the League of Nations meeting in Geneva in September 1933.

Selahattin Ülkümen was a Muslim Turkish official who helped Jews escape the Holocaust. While consul general of Rhodes he saved the lives of 42 Jewish families. Later the Nazis bombed his home, killing his wife.

On January 19, 1945, the French-Jewish artist David Olère, prisoner of Sonderkommando at Auschwitz, began the death march from Auschwitz to the Ebensee camp, a satellite of the Mauthausen concentration camp. He was liberated by the Americans in May 1945.

Rev. Kaj Munk, a Danish Lutheran pastor, patriot and playwright.

The Gestapo arrested Munk on January 4th, 1944, a month after he had defied a Nazi ban and preached the first Advent sermon at the national cathedral in Copenhagen. Munk's body was found in a roadside ditch.

At only 10 years old, in May 1938, Bronia Snow came to London on the Kindertransport from Czechoslovakia.

Bronia survived. She celebrates her 99th birthday this year.

Polish Jewish woman Ala Gertner was born in Będzin in 1912. She was incarcerated in Auschwitz in August 1943. She worked in 'Union' munition factory from where together with other women she smuggle gunpowder to Sonderkommando resistance. She was hanged #OTD 6 January 1945.
