I drew my pattern out on freezer paper keeping in mind the pattern for the dress pieces. Did you know you can iron freezer paper to most fabrics and it will stick long enough to thread trace? Peal it right off and sew thousands of sequins….

All of this helped yesterday when we had the call from Golden HS about the gun scare. Turns out it was a cardboard cutout of a gun. My kid left his phone at school so we had no way to reach him for a couple hours. He’s ok. We’re ok. Guns are not the solution. Don’t at me.

As for the crochet, it’s slow going and I’m just making it up as I go and trying to keep my yarn tension consistent. Easier said than done since I’m not very practiced.

Some books I’ve absolutely loved: Kaiju Preservation Society by John Scalzi, Where the Forest Meets the Stars by Glendy Vandereh. I also liked The Murderbot Diaries (fun, short, but start to get formulaic) by Martha Wells. I enjoyed The House on the Cerulean Sea and the sequel by TJ Klune.

The big takeaway here is that Reuters won this case against the AI company on grounds they violated fair use—the judge found the AI company was guilty because, in using copyrighted works to generate its output, it “meant to compete... by developing a market substitute.”
