As a follow-up to recent (and ongoing) discussions in Halifax about the costs and impacts of the city's bike network build-out, I did a deep dive on how much new bike infrastructure costs the city and used other projects to provide context.

Halifax folks, please write/call your councillor (you can use the tool below to easily get all the emails or start an email to all of them) and tell them to reject this "Potential Alternatives for Morris Street East Connection" nonsense.

A photo taken in a out-of-town, car-centric shopping centre (Bayers Lake, Kjipuktuk/Halifax). Just in front of the sign, the pedestrian sidewalk ends but there is a faint path in the grassy verge that suggests that people walk along the verge despite the lack of infrastructure. Added to the sign are the words "A pedestrian hell hole" in recognition of the car-centric design that means anyone walking, cycling or using transit is literally pushed to the margins or excluded altogether.
