Never have a I seen a sign I agree with more after reading local news the last few days lol
11.07.2025 17:55 โ ๐ 55 ๐ 12 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 3Hey. Hi. Hello.
As a follow-up to recent (and ongoing) discussions in Halifax about the costs and impacts of the city's bike network build-out, I did a deep dive on how much new bike infrastructure costs the city and used other projects to provide context.

06.07.2025 18:18 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Halifax folks, please write/call your councillor (you can use the tool below to easily get all the emails or start an email to all of them) and tell them to reject this "Potential Alternatives for Morris Street East Connection" nonsense.
06.07.2025 15:18 โ ๐ 32 ๐ 21 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 2A photo taken in a out-of-town, car-centric shopping centre (Bayers Lake, Kjipuktuk/Halifax). It shows a cloudy blue sky, a line of cars at a traffic light, some shop signs and a sign that reads "Bayers Lake". Just in front of the sign, the pedestrian sidewalk ends but there is a faint path in the grassy verge that suggests that people walk along the verge despite the lack of infrastructure. Added to the sign are the words "A pedestrian hell hole" in recognition of the car-centric design that means anyone walking, cycling or using transit is literally pushed to the margins or excluded altogether.
Thanks for giving me a reason to re-surface this image! #ZeroVisionHFX #CarBrain #ActiveTravel
12.06.2025 14:03 โ ๐ 18 ๐ 8 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0I completely agree. The road is so wide, it will be easy to do. Hopefully it doesnโt take long.
11.06.2025 19:37 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Woohoo! I've been dreaming of this bike lane since I moved to this area. So excited re this proposal. These streets are unnecessarily wide. Now we can all share the space. Way to go @hfxgov-mirror.bsky.social

If Premier Houston & Mayor Fillmore want to make an immediate impact on congestion in #HaliSky, they could stop mandating people back to offices & allow for more flexible working hours so drivers aren't piling into cars at the same time every day. It's not rocket science www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
08.06.2025 12:23 โ ๐ 53 ๐ 19 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 0Just wrote my councilor to ask them to vote AGAINST Mayor Fillmore's motion to "Pause awarding contracts for any new bike lane design or construction capital projects, effective immediately" - #HRM/#Halifax folks, heads up this vote happens Tuesday, reported in Hfx Examiner today.

I wasn't expecting to drop everything to write this update today. Mayor Fillmore is putting forward a motion that could kill or drastically reduce the Regional Centre Bike Network. It's problematic, reckless, and lacking in evidence. My take here samaustin.ca/the-bike-net...
