Do UN climate talks have a point any more? The US president is notably absent from these UN climate talks, as are other world leaders, all of which prompts questions about the purpose of COP today.

I'm in 2 minds about this. I think, on balance, I would say yes the summits do have a point - if only to keep public awareness and momentum high, even if politically they achieve very little.

Exciting news: I've been offered a permanent part-time position at Uni of Oxford, as 'Departmental Tutor'. No different to what I've been doing for last few years, i.e. teaching an online course in Climate Science. Not much to brag about, & at 7% time it's not exactly my dream, but still nice!
