NATO Should Not Replace Traditional Firepower with ‘Drones’
Over-reliance on uncrewed aerial systems or ‘drones’ is leading to significant problems for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and is not something Western militaries should attempt to replicate
Just published via RUSI... I suspect this one may generate some strong opinions but I think it's an important set of factors for military planners especially in the Land domain to engage with:

Others have noted that this means foreign-born people are LESS likely than UK-born people to be in prison. What I want to note is that The Times is now referring to foreign-born UK citizens as ‘foreigners’. This includes Boris Johnson, Sir Mo Farah, Emma Watson, Rory Stewart and little old me.

Four global maps showing near-surface air temperature anomalies for the month of August in 1985-1994, 1995-2004, 2005-2014, and 2015-2024. Most all areas are observing long-term warming, which is largest over the Arctic region and Asia. Anomalies are calculated relative to 1951-1980 from ECMWF ERA5 reanalysis.
Welcome to August! Our planet is hotter, and it's only going to get hotter.
Maps show the changes in August temperature by decade. Data used from @copernicusecmwf.bsky.social ERA5 reanalysis.

Your usual reminder that MARGARET THATCHER stood up in front of the UN General Assembly in November 1989 & declared that this clear & present danger existed on the basis of the science as understood then, & that understanding & concrete measurement has only grown, to vast volumes, since.

The Red Queen Fallacy
Humans weren't made to tick off checklists and clear inboxes. We've lost sight of who we are, amid the mindless excesses of hustle culture and a drive-thru existence. Here's the case for slowing down.
I wrote about what I call "The Red Queen Fallacy" -- the toxic blend of hustle culture, checklist existences, and under-regulated capitalism that make too many people in modern life feel like they're stuck on a treadmill without an off switch:

Fun fact: In real trade agreements written by grown ups wearing their big boy pants and smart girl hats, we avoid like the plague any commitments on things we don't control.
Good: The government will not unreasonably impede investment.
Bad: Our private citizens will make a $zillion in investments.

Deputy PM says ministers must accept ‘real concerns people have’ amid fears of another summer of riots
Or, just spitballing here, the government could address the genuine issues, such as housing issues, cost of living crisis, and confront disinformation spread about immigration to help better inform people, rather than pandering to xenophobia and exacerbating hostile rhetoric and scapegoating.
