My office has been ready for tonight for many years now.

MPs across party lines were united in calling out the company’s callous decision and the government has acted quickly to ensure that companies that abandon production here do not benefit from remissions to our counter tariffs.

After taking public money and with commitments to protect Canadian jobs, Stellantis is shifting production from Brampton to Illinois. Incredibly, the company’s president told us that Canada “is more than a market, it’s a home” at the same time as it abandons our workers and undermines the sector.

On a personal note, I like to think my approach hasn’t changed over the years. I promised to bring a more principled and independent voice to the House and to work hard for the only community I’ve ever really known.

Thanks to everyone who has been a part of this wild journey over the years.

Kids out of poverty, affordable childcare, public dental, serious climate action, advanced reconciliation, and forceful responses to a pandemic and Trump thrown in for good measure.
