why apartments are so, so expensive nowadays

Multiple reasons, the weight of each varies by area:
-Algorithmic rent hikes
-Air B&B
-Private equity landlords
-Supply not keeping up with demand
-Demographic shifts leading to different household sizes
-Local wild cards (eg. economy weirdness, disasters, etc)

Mostly greed, though.

Houses too to rent. The reason is there few local landlords. Rentals are managed by large companies that are owned by even larger corporations, sometimes overseas. This is all the investment and income property. You’re just a hamster on a wheel throwing in half your income

My optimism about our ability to save our democracy comes from my experience. No matter how broken or bruised our democracy is today, I have seen it work and I know it can work again. I have seen the power of collective action. I know it can save us now.

5/18 - The folks at Fox were outraged that the magistrate involved with the FBI search of Mar-a-Lago had once worked for Jeffrey Epstein. They weren't upset that David Schoen and Alan Dershowitz were also hired by Epstein. 🤔

This is why so many in Gen Z don’t believe homeownership is part of their American Dream. They saw their parents lose homes in record numbers during the Great Recession.

The President of the United States went on CNBC today and said: He won the 2020 election (he didn’t). He has a 71% approval rating (he doesn’t). The jobs numbers were rigged (they weren’t).

I could say something funny here, but I won’t. It’s just so damn dangerous to have him in the White House.
