On recent experiences of being a woman: I wish for my smile to remain simply a smile and not an invitation. I am either too polite or too closed off, but can never seem to exist in the space in between. "It was just a compliment. Who doesn't want a compliment?" Me. I did not invite you nor your gaze. presence or perception. "You can't even be friendly these days" Okay, let's talk about the weather, books you've read lately, films you plan to watch. But now you speak in euphemisms often relating to my body and how you would like it to perform.

And then you tell me how l" can't take a joke" ", as if I had requested for one in the first place. You present your jokes as a kind offering, knowing too well who had to pay its price. You finally leave, feeling rejected and confused. I stay, frozen and hoping to become invisible. But then amidst walks in the sunshine, I see a fluffy dog or a giggling child and I can't help but smile again. I have, once again, created an invitation to my own surprise party...

International and Palestinian activists are organising an urgent fundraiser deliver aid to families in Tulkarem camp. The Zionist occupation continues to attack Palestinians during the holy month of Ramadan. It is our duty to stand by them, hand in hand, as they face this onslaught. -dates and fruit ( I like fruit chaat/salad the best during Ramadan)
-limiting caffeine intake or figuring out what works best for you around your work/academic schedule
-try to get enough protein & keep up with any supplements you need

Under colonial occupation there’s no such thing as a ceasefire. The only thing that comes close to it is a temporary pause of systematic death & destruction or a relocation of this violence as we’re seeing in the West Bank. Colonial violence only ends with the end of colonialism.

No one should be punished for getting ill.

Yet in the UK, a third of workers are stuck with Statutory Sick Pay so low it doesn't cover basic bills. Worse still, 1.3 million get no sick pay at all.

It's time to raise Statutory Sick Pay - and make it available for everyone.
