Some of Edinburghβs scaffolding is so old, it should be listed. No one alive can remember whatβs underneath.

Close up of the inscription to George Wilson, noting that he was founding director etc, with symbol below of an eye in a hand in a triangle in a circle.
I recently paid a visit to the memorial of @ntlmuseumsscot.bsky.social or The Industrial Museum of Scotland's founding director George Wilson (1818-1859), Professor of Technology. His symbol for Technology, which can also be found on some of our early labels, is at the bottom #histSTM

04.08.2025 14:22 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Cadbury's Flake advert from 1936, again with a suggestion to have it as a "99" in an ice-cream sandwich
Another Cadbury's Flake 99 advert from 1936. Soft-serve ice-cream didn't exist at the time so it feels a little bit unlikely that vendors were trying to pop crumbly flakes into a scoop of the harder stuff back in the 1920s.
04.08.2025 14:06 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Whether or not the Portobello origin story is true, if you want to *really* blow your mind, what you think of as a "Ninety-Nine" is not what Cadbury intended it to be when they first marketed it themselves in 1936. You've been doing it wrong all these years! π¦π«π€―

04.08.2025 12:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I was wondering that, but it seems the text claims the living/dining room is the bedroom. I don't think the attic has sufficient headroom to allow it to be classes as a bedroom for the sale, it looks like it's the practical place to have a bed so long as you don't mind hitting your head a lot
