My five books on the kitchen table.
I posted this yesterday. My five books on the kitchen table. I’ve had big publishers, small publishers, an agent, then not. I’ve been on radio 4, in a pile of collections, won prizes.
But for years and years I was never proud of myself. Now I look back, pat myself on back. 😊👍

Delighted to have a new story in the wonderful @trampset.bsky.social This one is about fishes riding bicycles and being the last remaining Brussels sprout at Christmas. It was written on Christmas day.

Today's shortlisted story is "Like a memory, or maybe only a dream" by @laurabesley.bsky.social. Congratulations, Laura. A micro with such a brilliant twisting together of hope and sadness at its heart.

Illustration of a series of skulls at the top, with the title "Dr. Guiseppe Culpa-Organista Discovers the Guilt Organ" by Joseph Giglio prominently displayed. Below the title, there is a narrative describing a doctor's feelings of guilt after spilling milk in his mother's kitchen, reflecting on his relationships and emotions. The text conveys themes of remorse and self-examination.
a very possibly perfect micro today from Joseph Giglio
I love it all, but then it makes that turn with "He worries that the milkman might be his father and that if so he has let down his real father by spilling the milk." and my brain lit up
