The Donner Yellow Fall punches far above its price point (new). Not as many controls as a fancy unit or a plugin, but good sounds and does entertaining oscillations.
Tonewood finally reaches the pedalboard!

Love that knob too - I have a couple in that style and haven't found a use for them yet.
Also, not that you've explicitly asked the Public, but my pick would be: Fuzz, Tuner, Phaser, Chorus, Tube Pilot, Blues Driver, Compressor, Delay (in FX loop if possible)
With Fuzz, Tube Pilot, BD-2 all being treated as XOR'd in use, tho stacking a fuzz into the TP might sound fun.
Lots of great options there!
Phase might be swapped on the photo, tho.
Dr. Pufflesteen requests a civilized circuit
Dr. Pufflesteen was tired of fuzz and asked: "What would happen if you treated the BC108 family with respect instead of violence?"

Breadboard finalized, PCB designed and protos ordered, parts ordered, drilled enclosures ordered, knob samples sourced...
that is a gorgeous row of circuit candy

06.11.2025 12:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Research question: What does this sound like to you, in the vocabulary of amps, pedals, and their sound adjectives? (the sound of the gear, not the playing!). It's a bridge humbucker, two-channel recording of the cab and direct-out of the amp.

Are you running your amp clean or dirty?
Because it came up in conversation, here's a pic of the very first DFO-250 prototype, 100% by hand on perfboard before I learned PCB layout, hand-drilled, lettered, etc..:

Good setting for some nasty bass riffs right there!
If the bottom-end on your guitar is a bit too thick, wind up the Drive/EQ control to about 1-o'clock and back off the Amp Gain to around noon (or run it high for plenty of dirt).
This struggle is real.

08.10.2025 00:42 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah, it cuts bass as you wind the Drive up, amplifying what remains. I build a pedal based on the same core topology, but with a lot more controls. It's killer on bass, IMO, but definitely not simple. Another good 2-knob guitar pedal that's good on bass is the Red Llama.
08.10.2025 00:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Love it!
The DOD-250 has a lot of potential as a bass drive because when Drive is all the way down (as you have it), a lot of bass freqs come through.
But its potential is kind of locked up because you can't adjust the distortion at the EQ you like.
Pretty sure that's Stephen Miller on the left.
