Age of Empires II in the dorms was hilarious. Including of course the legendary incident where someone saw a massive invading army en route from his "ally" neighbor, so he ran into the neighbor's room and pulled the ethernet cable.

About as much "Choice" as one of those RPG in-game dialogue options where if you select option B, you get a "no, really???" and then it loops back.

All of these AI CEOs are the same. Imagine the savings to companies (tens of millions a year!) if we replaced *them* with AI.

Of course, a lot of games still let you make custom lobbies and you can play that same way, but I see it so rarely - with the option to hop into queue, most folks don't want to spend the time arranging a game. Maybe I'll start pushing to do it more that way.

I miss the early days of online gaming - there wasn't always automated matchmaking, if you wanted to play DotA (and I'm talking warcraft 3 custom mod DotA), you got a group of friends together and you played.

Clunky as it was, there was just something neat about that that's been lost since.
