As a literature educator, for me, poetry begins and ends with Audre Lorde. Every student I have has read “Poetry is not a Luxury.” “Litany for Survival” is the poem that reminds us Who and Whose we are, because we were never meant to survive.

Submit a college assignment without doing the thinking?

Turns out that's really obvious for a well-written assignment that focuses on process. Sadly, some educators have also lost track of the value of process and have crappy assignment structures.

That's a pedagogy conversation, not an AI one.

Have AI take notes for you in an hour-long meeting? Great, now you have a document of synthetic text that might have inaccuracies, definitely doesn't indicate what the most important or contentious points of discussion were, and that no one will read.

Write a book in a day? It's as if the creative human endeavor of thinking of new characters, settings, etc is meaningless because you just need an ebook to sell.

There are so many faster ways to make money if that's all you're in it for.

Folks who don't care about the process and only care about the product are likely to be pro-AI.

The old adage, "it's about the journey, not the destination" rolls around in my head as I get told how AI will save me time on XYZ task. Doesn't have to be good if it's done, right? (Wrong.)
