When a person making $50k a year has $36 tax dollars going to fund SNAP and almost $1000 going to fund corporate subsidies… you know there’s an issue.

Bingo. The fact that 1 in 8 Americans depend on SNAP for a basic need like food, goes to show that those corporate tax breaks, CEO salaries, and unchanging minimum wage (doesn’t keep up with cost of living or inflation) are the real issues.

Just yesterday, I was able to answer neighbor’s request for nursery pots - ironically, I had been meaning to “get rid of” the extra pots I didn’t need. ♻️

I was so fortunate to receive medicinal perennials from one of these groups from someone who had a surplus. I planted them in my yard, processed them, and now have medicine in my apothecary.

Are you part of any local “free” groups?

I honestly think that these groups are the lynchpin of community. Offering what you have FOR FREE to someone who might need it is so important not just now but always.

Let’s hear all of the folks who have doubled down on advocating for big corporate tax cuts in recent spending bills because “they deserve cuts when they’re employing so many people”

50501 movement is calling for general strike over thanksgiving through cyber Monday. No supporting big corporations whatsoever. No Black Friday shopping. No cyber Monday shopping.

Funny how there’s no money for SNAP or to pay the military but lots of money to build detention camps, fund Argentina, buy private jets…

What could be more poignant at this current moment than the words of Marcus Aurelius:

What if we collectively decided to not indulge in corporate consumerism this holiday season? What if, instead, we gave the gifts of freshly baked goods, curated secondhand items, locally made artisanal products, handmade pieces — or our TIME?

I love this. I’m so tired of everything needing a “smart” feature. We have a freezer from the 50s that will work forever because it doesn’t have an LED screen connected to Bluetooth and WiFi - it was made to be a freezer and functions thusly.

-an impromptu visit from my friend and her daughter
-using up food in the fridge and not letting things go to waste

No one deserves to starve or go hungry.

The way that MAGA can completely ignore and effectively rewrite history for themselves is horrific - it would be comedic if it didn’t have such awful consequences for the rest of us. But I guess that’s all part of being in an abusive narcissistic relationship.

Words are magical. The language we use with others -and ourselves- is a spell. The music lyrics we sing are spells.

I want a world where my daughter will have easy and ready access to clean air, clean water, clean soil. A world where her food is healthful and plentiful - and no one goes hungry. I want a world where Nature and animals are revered, protected.

MAGA keeps saying Trump is “saving taxpayers money” and “paying down the national debt.” If that were true, why did the U.S. national debt just surpass $38 trillion, a record high in American history?

-finding a “new” secondhand rug on marketplace that perfectly compliments my bedroom
-all of the beautiful secondhand treasures in my home
-spending money in my local economy (local farmers, small vendors, and via consignment)

For me, it is dried rose hips. I use these for teas (so much vitamin c) and skin products.

Making more fresh elderberry oxymel today. I am grateful to have the knowledge and resources to create medicine for myself and my community.
