They mostly gave quiet contact calls, but one gave a series of loud whistles. It’s not the classic ‘toot’, but I don’t recall hearing such a strident call from a British Bullfinch before. Anyone have experience of this call? #NEbirding #birds

It was strangely sad & comical to watch these Bitterns skating on ice today at Far Ings.
Hope they survive the cold snap & have a successful breeding season.
We’re lucky, we can warm up & eat & drink regardless.

2nd November 2025 - Flamborough Bird Observatory Relatively light south-west winds, sunny intervals and a high of 13 degrees C. Two Great Northern Divers flew south and 16 Little Gulls headed north during a morning seawatch. Three Firecrests continu...

3 Firecrest headlined also 25 Twite, ‘blythi’ Lesser Whitethroat, Yellow-browed Warbler, 6 Whooper Swans and Merlin. Acredula Willow Warbler at RSPB Bempton and 2 Hen Harrier at Buckton.
