Totally! And my school doesnt have its own field school, so its largely slim pickings, but even if its simulated! Im out in chicago, and my mapping/survey class is using parks and different spaces on campus to use, and we're using stuff like total stations, data collectors, making maps, its great!

I love those classes dont get me wrong, but Im needing concrete experience and need to get my hands dirty to learn this before I start applying for jobs.

I dont have a degree yet, but im studying for one! So far my school is very limited in hands on experience. Im taking a class right now thats mapping and surveying that is doing this, but most of my classes are cultural archaeology exploration or theory.
