Having turned 40, the most important thing you can do through your 30s—especially as a man—is cultivate friendships. You must start setting yourself up to have a vibrant social network into your 50s and 60s. Loneliness in your 30s is one thing. Loneliness in your later decades seems much worse.

so. remember how in the past people got enough exercise just from doing their job & daily tasks? & now all jobs are screens & we have to *deliberately exercise* to stay healthy?

from now we will have to *deliberately write* and *engage with art made for a wide audience* to keep our brains healthy.

Among the things the Corporation for Public Broadcasting shutdown means is that it will no longer help manage music rights for NPR & PBS stations, and all that work and expense will be downloaded to across the network.

Bluesky is full of musicians trying to find an audience. But we have a system of music discovery and delivery sucks as much blood out of the artists as possible without actually matching musicians to people who are receptive.

It's Bandcamp Friday and the perfect day to buy some new music.
