US demands that EU companies comply with anti-diversity order
US president Donald Trump has repeatedly taken aim at Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) programmes in the US, especially in government offices, claiming that they were discriminatory.
I'm not an expert on US anti-discrimination law, but EU law is already pretty strict when it comes to positive action, so any "illegal DEI" (whatever that's supposed to be) would probably already be unlawful here anyways. Symbol politics and bullying (what's new)

Three AI-powered steps to faster, smarter peer review
Tired of spending countless hours on peer reviews? An AI-assisted workflow could help.
Nothing to see here, just Nature advocating LLM peer review.

As a student, you imagine "science" is based on people carefully building upon each other's work.
Then you get into AI, and it seems it's actually a bunch of people yelling random things into the void in the hope somebody will listen to their Very Original Ideaβ’ surely nobody has thought of before.

A screen grab of two posts by @hildeweerts.bsky.social. The first post, posted 2m ago, is a repost of a post by the European Workshop on Algorithmic Fairness, stating the official submission templates (including a Word template) are now available. The second post, posted 1 day ago, expresses a dislike of Microsoft Word.
I would like to emphasise there is no relation whatsoever between these two posts.

Dear @facct.bsky.social authors, can you please please please refrain from advertising your preprints during paper bidding? π
I'm trying really hard to avoid learning authors' identities but it seems the only way of doing so is to avoid social media entirely π
