Akaashi presses his lips against Bokuto’s, the kiss hungry and full of emotions. He can feel Bokuto wrap his arms around his waist, pulling him closer. Akaashi smiles into the kiss, he gets to experience this for the rest of his life. Best birthday gift ever.

They bask in the quiet for a moment, staring at each other as if the world is ending.

“You know,” Akaashi says, “you’ll never be able to top this birthday gift,” he laughs.

Bokuto’s thumb brushes across his cheek, wiping away a stray tear, “Well, now I have a lifetime to try.”+

“I have never loved someone as much as I love you.” Akaashi admits.

Bokuto’s stomach swarms with butterflies at his words.They’ve been in each other's lives for 11 years and Akaashi can still make Bokuto feel like he’s floating.+

“You are my everything, Keiji.” Bokuto whispers into his ear, “Happy Birthday.”

Akaashi pulls away from him, his hands cupping Bokuto’s face. His cheeks are wet with tears, but Bokuto can’t help the way his eyes soften at the look of his now fiancé. He’s gorgeous.+

“Yes,” Akaashi smiles, “a thousand times, yes!”

Bokuto is quick to his feet, embracing Akaashi in a hug. Akaashi can’t help the tears that fall down his cheeks as he buries his face into Bokuto’s neck. They stay like that for a moment, both crying, both unbelievably excited.+

The two have talked about getting married for years, but they never felt the time was right. With Bokuto and his career and Keiji and school. Things just became hectic. Eventually they left it alone, decided that they would get married whenever the opportunity was presented to them and now…+

Akaashi can feel his eyes begin to prickle with tears. He can’t believe Bokuto did all of this for him. The raven has had many fantastic birthdays in his lifetime thanks to the shining ball of light in front of him, but he never expected this.+

You had this calm and silent demeanor, but the way you ruled the court is what made me fall instantly. These have been the best years of my life. With you, in this city, in our home. I wouldn’t want my life to be any other way. I want to spend forever with you. So, Akaashi Keiji…would you marry me”+

“Hi, my Keiji.” he smiles sweetly. Akaashi gasps, his hands flying over his mouth.

Bokuto continues, his smile beaming, “I wanna start off by saying that, Keiji, you mean the world to me. The first day I met you, I knew you were the one for me.+

After staring in awe at all of the hard work Bokuto put in, Akaashi turns the corner to head towards the kitchen and he stills. There, down on one knee in their living room, is none other than Bokuto Koutarou himself.+

There are some from high school, some from college, and even more from their many adventures as adults.

Akaashi takes his time examining each one, his love for Bokuto growing even more in his chest (which he didn’t even know was possible) as he walks from photo to photo.+

He stops for a moment noticing the little images tied to the strings of the balloons. Akaashi can’t help but smile when he sees what the photos are. They’re pictures of him and Bokuto from over the years.+
