As an adopted person, I feel qualified to offer this expert option:

Adoption is so weird sometimes.

It's super complex! I think I'm in a generation before 'fandom' as it's currently practiced (I'm 45), and I have no idea if I would have engaged or not, had I been born later. I love to see the enthusiasm, and creativity, but when the creators turn out to suck it seems so hard.

I’m absolutely not saying it’s good; she’s a nightmare person who ruins lives. I’m only saying I don’t know how hard it is or how much someone is trying. HP, for all its many faults, was a lifeline for some.

I’m not a person who really does fandom so I can’t really understand what it’s like to connect with an IP on that level, but I do know folks who struggle with giving it up, and opt for only consuming second hand material, and that seems ok to me!

The leadership of the Tabletop Game Designers Association was disappointed to see the publisher CGE touting Codenames: Back to Hogwarts, a new Harry Potter-themed version of Codenames.

If you grew up with HP, if you love HP, if it's a special interest, etc, I have empathy for that. I would deeply encourage no new purchases, though.

JKR is funding life-destroying legislation. When you license HP and put it on your product, the money you pay to do that is literally ruining lives. This isn't ambiguous, it is direct, measurable harm. I will never give a penny to a company who chooses money over the lives of my friends.
