OH! Sorry to keep blathering at you, but I just remembered Viy, a soviet era film set in medieval Russia that is one of the most visually delightful movies Iโ€™ve maybe ever seen. The effects so creative and fresh, I loved it!

yes! the father design plus the protagonistโ€™s performance (in turns pathetic, heroic, and adorable, and even for a moment detestable) really elevated the movie into another level of excellence for me. and being shot on super 16mm? delicious

โ€œThe document is from last May and reportedly describes the new โ€œName Tagโ€ feature that would allow smart glasses wearers to identify people using Metaโ€™s built-in AI assistant. The New York Times reports that Meta initially planned to launch the feature during a conference for the blind before releasing it more widely, but that never panned out. Meta, which makes smart glasses with Ray-Ban and Oakley, reportedly plans to launch the feature as soon as this year.
Sources tell The Times that the facial recognition technology wouldnโ€™t allow people to identify everyone they see. Instead, Meta is reportedly considering using the feature to detect people that the wearer is connected with on one of Metaโ€™s platforms. Itโ€™s also exploring โ€œidentifying people whom the user may not know but who have a public account on a Meta site like Instagram,โ€ according to The New York Times.โ€

more seriously, thereโ€™s a distinct lack. Black Death was one that I remember not liking very much, but itโ€™s been many years since I saw it and maybe itโ€™s better than I remember. Sauna is also one thatโ€™s been highly recommended to me, but I havenโ€™t seen yet

I bought this beautiful early 20th century painted tray from ebay last year and it showed that it was delivered on Dec. 11th, though I never saw it and assumed sadly that it had been stolen off the porch. But lo and behold look what popped up at my door today! Itโ€™s a Valentine's Day miracle

On the left side hang the 12 Labors of the Year panels, each one round and bordered in red and white pencil borders. The months display a person doing the labor that was expected to be done for that month, things like gathering flowers, pruning grape vines, slaughtering livestock, and hawking

Thank you!! Theyโ€™re based on 13th-century originals that are part of a rose window in Lausanne, Switzerland.

My favorite thing about them is that both June and July are labeled Julius (July), and you can just feel the medieval craftsmanโ€™s OOF when he took it out of the kiln and saw what heโ€™d done
