So as it turns out, my Guitar Hero issues were due to PCSX2's audio latency being set to an amount I like to refer to as "a friggin lot" by default.

Doing more Guitar Hero 3 today, probably switching games once my wrist goes "please stop this madness"

Also I wouldn't mind us being able to trail a magnet and a mine behind us until we release the fire button. It's not ENTIRELY vital but it'd be nice.

Instead, make the green glove an actual green shell. No homing, no lock-on. Maybe just an aiming reticule so you can manually aim it better, but that's it.

Then the red glove should have the limited locking of the green glove, and the sawblade should work more like the red glove used to.

Also, the green/red shell situation is kinda stupid.

Why does the green glove have the power to lock-on like a red shell?

And then the red shell does it better?

And then there's the saw which does it even better than that?

It's so redundant.

Either that or take the weights out entirely because whoever's idea it was to have TWO blue shell equivalents in the game has got to be huffing some top-tier glue and I want a sniff.

Also make it so the portal is naturally dodgable by a T3 boost, have it be outrunnable by every character.

This'll probably be something that happens in-time with a nerf to drift charge speed overall. Maybe make it so a T3 with a charge speed build takes as long as a T4 normally does.

If the items get nerfed in a way that makes them a lot more defeatable either without items or with the basic stuff you get when in 1st, then level 4 drift won't be a problem.

Change King Boom Boo to be like the lightning from Blur, for example. Pillars of fire in a chicane the leader has to dodge.

You nerf level 4 drifts by itself and the meta will just become sandbagging, which is the WORST way to play a racing game.

Ah yes, I love purposely driving slow for two laps and not actually racing in my racing game.

It's boring.

Hot take: People complaining about level 4 drifts in Sonic CrossWorlds and demanding that it be nerfed are extremely short-sighted and are just attacking a symptom of the problem and not the problem itself.

You want level 4 drifts to not be the meta? Give us other means to defend ourselves.
