I can't remember the last time an album dropped my jaw this hard. Phil Tougas and a host of talented fellas channel USPM and a bit of bass plucking black metal from last years Zeicrydeus into an epic doom metal masterpiece. High notes, soaring solos, etc.

I've always leaned more to the death side of death/doom, since the bands on the doom side of it tend to be more influenced by the melodic/gothic approach that doesn't appeal to me, so coming across a band doing death/doom that leans WAY more on the traditional doom side of things is very refreshing

By far one of my favorite approaches to extreme metal for the last 10ish years has been this more darker progressive meets heavy metal gallops all wrapped up in a death metal package. Morbus Chron's Sweven truly changed death metal forever.

The guitarwork is mind blowing. Phil Tougas is just one of the best ones doing it in extreme metal right now. There's a Marty Friedman feature on one of the songs on the album and I can't wait to hear that solo duel
