Trump's abduction of Maduro is outrageous, with likely grave international and domestic consequences. It should be resisted. The Congress should insist upon engagement. People ought oppose further threats elsewhere and should urge seeking UN engagement to oversee a free election in Venezuela.

I just watched a hopeful webinar from the New Israel Fund. NIF has long supported democratic and progressive programs in Israel. Recently, that wok has expanded to efforts with Palestinians, in Gaza, the occupied territories, and Israel. For example see:

Sadly, US President Trump's international interventions are outlandish, but have profound impacts. He attends to personalities and he offers resources as well as well imposes coercion. This bizarre conduct requires attention by constructive conflict researchers.

Trump may be angry about the great wave against him and behave wildly. Yet, it should prompt more efforts to advance democracy, diversity, and equity. Actions at the local level to advance those goals are good. Also, actions in support of existing organizations defending democracy are needed.

Dangerous Time?
The great wave of Democratic votes in the last election will naturally embolden many people who have been resisting the many autocratic, cruel, and ignorant actions taken by Trump. But it may also prompt Trump to be even more revengeful. See next post about advancing democracy now.

Decrying Trump's dictatorial, self-indulging actions is useful, but not enough. Counter actions must be made and celebrated. For example, some local communities manage to sustain programs to generate energy from the sun or wind.

Evidence has proven that solar and wind applications can provide energy cheaply and counter global warming. So President Biden established many green projects. Trump is overturning them, yielding money to oil companies and diminishing Biden.

Trump loved the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-un, when he first was president. He was proud of his love, while Kim Jong-un speedily developed nuclear weapons.
Strangely, Trump admires tyrants like Putin and Kim Jon-n and wants them to like him. Committing assassinations is really admirable.

A Netflix documentary reports on the many times a nuclear war between the US and USSR almost erupted, scary. Also the many CIA interventions abroad are noted --and they were terrible failures, ETC.
