12.02.2026 22:31 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0When i found out he died i was waiting at King's Cross Station for my train to Edinburgh. I was hungover as I was at my mate's in London and we had a heavy few days of pubs n clubs. I remember putting the headphones on and listened to his music for the majority of the journey home. He was great

David Axelrod - The Smile

I was introduced to DA through hip-hop as he was sampled by some of the greats: Dilla, Pete Rock, Madlib, Dre. And Theo and Gilles played his stuff. The Verve always quoted him too. Real deal legend
Brilliant. You can't beat it when crowd and artist go off on one together. TITP was amazing for that. Great atmosphere.. I saw him there a couple of times. Remember him doing Hendrix's Little Wing, and Dear Prudence over the top of My Star

12.02.2026 00:01 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Definitely, Ben. I was too young to see Roses first time round, so I would always go see Ian anytime he played up here during early days of his solo career. Had some excellent nights. Especially when he played a surpriseRoses set in 2004. Atmosphere was wild
12.02.2026 00:00 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Yes, Aziz was with Ian for a while. I remember seeing Ian Brown play Roses songs for first time since he left, in 2004. Was absolutely amazing. Atmosphere was unreal. Me and my pals went up for more the next night. We all managed to get tix outside. Great memories

I always thought his first solo album would have been a great Stone Roses album

Ian Brown - Whispers

I would have loved to have put FEAR on the list, but I put that on 00s. Still, this is a great track. I feel Brown's solo work can be overlooked at times. Made some solid albums. And he's still kool and hard af 🎤🥋

"Raised on songs and stories...." the Irish communities and families across the industrial towns and cities of the UK were raised on songs and stories. Rare old times, indeed 💚
