just finished part1 tutorial on parsing gcode in houdini, I dont have any plans to 3D print, just my friend Alan pointed out how much I'd learn about basic python in houdini, and I did learn a lot, especially about regex which is nuts.

the gist of it, I took the existing displaceSDF node which samples simplex noise in 3D space to push the surface distance, and I added a new function which instead lets you sample 3x simplex functions in 3 points in space and resolve each to an offset in the SDF coordinate space so instead of [β¦]

a dark grainy gothic looking scene, the view is just above a warped stairway with columns to the right and distorted fibrous surfaces to the left, the stairway leads to a dark opening in the fibrous structure
pixtur showed me how the SDF shader nodes work under the hood in C#, so thanks to him I was able to make my own custom SDF spatial distortion effect by sampling simplex noise with xyz offsets, the stairs in my scene look so much better now #tixl

Right! I can summarise this shit for you now: bats have blue-tuned rod receptors and then green- and UV-sensitive cones; so red is mostly outside their visual spectrum. Green light appears to be actually beneficial in feeding areas of *some* bat species as it attracts the insects they predate on [β¦]

Did you know you can set specific sops how they are displayed in the opengl viewport?
Or you can use the 'Visualize Properties' SOP and set it there, it will carry over in OBJ level
